David Narkewicz officially kicks off his campaign
for an at-large seat on the City Council Monday
with a make-your-own grinder and sundae party.
The event will include remarks from Narkewicz, outgoing At-Large City Councilor James M. Dostal, and former councilor Marilyn Richards.
The festivities will take place from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the World War II Club on Conz Street. The cost is $10 per adult and free for children, who can get creative at a craft table and show off their work in a parade during the party.
Narkewicz, 42, of 31 South Park Terrace, has been the Ward 4 city councilor for the past four years and is one of three candidates running for two open at-large seats.
Prior to seeking elected office, Narkewicz served as a member of the Transportation and Parking Commission and the Zoning Board of Appeals. He is also a 10-year board member of the Northampton Education Foundation, and has served as the organization's co-president.
He is a former district aide to U.S. Congressman John Olver, D-Amherst, for whom he directed federal funding and economic development initiatives in western and central Massachusetts, and has served on the legislative staffs of three other congressmen.
